What Would You Say to Amber?

imagesCities4Life wants to provide web-based, sidewalk counseling tips and training through the “What Would You Say?” posts. Not only is this good practice for thinking on your feet during everyday encounters you might have with people who oppose your worldview, but it is also good training for those who want to do Frontline Ministry outside of abortion mills. And remember, scripture addresses the root of these issues. Let’s look at a common scenario together and some ways to address this common objection.

What Would You to say to Amber?

You are ministering outside the abortion mill and you get the opportunity to speak with a young lady who is coming to abort her child. She shares with you that she became pregnant as the result of rape and that she just wants to have this abortion so that she can get over the rape and move on. Prayerfully and compassionately, here are some things that we can share with Amber to get her to reconsider her decision.

“I can not imagine the hurt and pain that you are experiencing. Jesus is the only One who can heal your hurts and get you through this. Can we help you and support you through this terrible tragedy that has happened to you?”

“Your baby is living human being created in God’s image. How he or she was conceived does not change that.”

“How would aborting this child take away the pain of what happened to you? Taking this child’s life will not undo the rape or its emotional effects.”

“Unlike his father, this child is innocent. Please do not punish the innocent for the crimes of his father”

“Have you thought about the long term spiritual, emotional and physical effects of abortion and how that will compound upon the pain of the rape?”

“Even though you were victimized by another against your will, you have the power to not victimize another- this defenseless child- by taking his life.”

“Have you considered adoption? Though you may not emotionally be able to raise this child, there are many families out there would love to raise and love your child.”
